(Descriptive Type Questions)
1. Read the following passage carefully and answer the questions that follow:
i) ANS- These scales give the butterfly its bright colours and patterns.
ii) ANS- Buterflies begin their lives as caterpillars.
iii) ANS- When they are ready, the caterpillar spins a cocoon around itself and goes through a stage called metamorphosis. Inside the cocoon, the caterpillar’s body changes into a butterfly.
iv) ANS- After a few weeks, the butterfly emerges from the cocoon. It pumps fluid from its body into its wings to make it strong enough to fly. The butterfly then uses its wings to fly from flower to flower, sipping nectar for food.
2. Read the following passage carefully and answer the questions that follow:
i) ANS- Hari lives in a big city.
ii) ANS- Anil is Hari’s son.
iii) ANS- One day his father takes him to a school.
iv) ANS- Anil learns many good habits in the school.
3. Read the poem carefully and answer the questions that follow:
i) ANS- The speaker love the cow Becouse Cow is very friendly.
ii) ANS- Cow eat with apple tart.
iii) ANS- Cow wanders lowing here and there, And yet she cannot stray.
4. Answer any five of the following questions:
a) Ans- Seeing Gillu sitting near the window and affectionately peering at the world outside made the narrator to set Gillu free.
b) Ans- The writer or other person who could not cope up their thinking power with the speed of today’s life are slow thinkers. They are handicapped because many times they find difficulties in earning a living. The slow thinkers are not able to cope up well with the demand of present life.
c) Ans- Till recently the Aryans were regarded as the earliest invaders of India.
d) Ans- Akoulya tried to check Malasha because she was going to step into the puddle with her shoes. She warned her that her mother would scold her. She advised her to take off her shoes and stocking before stepping into the puddle.s the earliest invaders of India.
g) Ans- The man was rich but not content because of his greed. He always wanted more and this greed never let him be satisfied and happy with what he had.
5. Write a paragraph on any one of the following in about 60-70 words:
ANS- i) Time Management
We need to manage our time effectively. We do many different activities each day. Some of these are routine activities that we do every day. For instance, getting ready in the morning or going for a morning walk or jog are activities that we do each morning. Similarly, we go to school in the morning each working day at the same time, taking the school bus or going by walk. By managing our time effectively we can be punctual and do our activities without stress. For this we need to plan our day well and follow a practicable time table.

6. You are Abhay, the Secretary of the Sports Society. Write a notice in about 60-70 words inviting entry for badminton competition in your school.

7. Write a report on the condition of the sewerage system of your locality.
ANS- We have underground drainage system in our city. The interconnected drainage lines take away sewage to distantly place where sewage treatment plant is located. Here it is treated. Sewage is not allowed to pollute the local water bodies. It is first treated in sewage treatment plant, during this the treated water is disinfected through chlorination, water is then used for irrigation.
11. You are Chaman. Write a message to your father to pick you up around 7 p.m. from your friend’s house.
ANS- Hi Dear Father, I hope you are doing well. I am at my friend’s house and we are having a great time. Can you please pick me up from here at 7 p.m.? The address is 123 Main Street, Thiruporur. Thanks a lot, you are the best. See you soon.
