Short Answer Type Questions
Question Nos. 1 to 10 are Short Answer Type. Answer any 5 questions in about 20-30 words each. Each question carries 2 marks.

ANS- A party of saffron-clad Westerners struggles for permission to enter the temple.
2. What qualities did Kalam inherit from his parents?
ANS- Abdul Kalam inherited honesty and self-discipline from his father and faith in goodness and kindness from his mother. He learnt the value of respecting other religions and faiths.
3. When was Abdul Kalam’s ancestral house built?
ANS- Abdul Kalam’s ancestral house was situated on Mosque Street in Rameshwaram. It had been built in the middle of the nineteenth century and was a fairly large, pucca house made of limestone and brick.
4. How many brothers and sisters did Kalam have?
ANS-Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam had four brothers and one sister.
5. Why did Sivasubramania Iyer invite Kalam to his house?
ANS- Sivasubramania Iyer Kalam’s science teacher invited Kalam to his house for a meal. Iyer, though an orthodox Brahmin with a very conservative wife. He wanted people to develop religious tolerance.

11. Write a paragraph in about 80 words on ‘Love for the country is the need of there.
ANS- India is a vast and beautiful country. I love the magnificent landscapes, from the snow-capped mountains of the Himalayas to the peaceful beaches. Admiring about the culture, colourful festivals, delicious cuisine and stunning architecture is unique in its way. As a source of information, the country fills our hearts with inspiration, courage, wisdom and innovation. I am proud to be a part of the nation and embrace its diversity regarding religions, languages, and the harmonious coexistence of traditions. India has given me a sense of belonging and identity. I am grateful for the opportunities that the country has offered me. I will always try hard to be a responsible citizen by contributing to the growth and development of this remarkable country. My love for India is immense and I am proud to call it my home.
13. Write a report in about 60 words on your travel experience to a holy place.
ANS- Last Sunday, I visited the Taj Mahal with my family. It was a dream come true for us to have visited the architectural marvel about which we have heard so much and had read so much in our books. We started feeling proud of our country to have this magnificent form of art.Our history teacher asked us to assemble at a place and started explaining how the Mughal emperor Shahjahan got this monument built as a mausoleum for his beloved queen Mumtaz Mahal. He had stated his desire to be buried by her side after his death. So, there were the two graves inside the mausoleum placed side by side.We roamed around, kept adoring the astounding beauty, and were amazed at the artistry of the fine carvings. How gifted must those hands be which created that piece of art with so much artistry, we pondered. We looked at the Taj Mahal at one glance and in the second looked at the full moon in the sky. The Taj Mahal looked no less marvellous than the moon in the sky.River Yamuna flows on the backside of this magnificent monument. It was as if the Yamuna was washing the feet of this marvellous wonder with a full sense of gratitude. For two hours, we went around this monument only rejoicing and wondering.
14. Write a speech in about 60 words on why we celebrate Christmas.
ANS- Christmas is a joyful festival celebrated on 25th December every year. It marks the birth of Jesus Christ and is a time of happiness and togetherness. People decorate their homes with lights, Christmas trees, and ornaments. Families exchange gifts and enjoy special meals together. Churches hold prayers and sing carols to spread the message of peace and love. Children eagerly wait for Santa Claus, who is believed to bring them presents. The festival teaches us about kindness, sharing, and helping others. Christmas brings people closer and fills hearts with warmth and hope, making it a truly special day.
